Le Morge Beach is the main beach in Torino di Sangro, awarded the 2025 Blue Flag by the Foundation for Environmental Education. It features fine, light-colored sand, a gently sloping seabed, and waters that shift in hue from blue to turquoise.
The name "morge" means "rock" in the local dialect, and this stretch of coastline is characterized by large pebbles and the Scoglione, a massive boulder to which one of the town’s traditional fishing platforms (demolished in the 1960s and now rebuilt) was historically anchored.
It is a popular choice for families with children due to the safety of the seabed. The public section of the beach is managed by the Pro Loco, featuring wooden walkways, showers, accessibility for people with disabilities (wheelchairs), and recycling bins on the sand. Along the promenade, equipped beach establishments (Baia Blu, Paradise Beach, Il Corallino, Sangro Beach) alternate with wide stretches of free beach.
It is easily accessible from the SS16 Adriatica, the Val di Sangro (A14) highway exit, and the Via Verde dei Trabocchi bike path. The town’s naturist beach—the only authorized one in Abruzzo—is located about 1 km further south, at Lido Punta Le Morge in the Lagodragoni area, and is covered in a separate entry.
