Summer in Torino di Sangro isn’t just about the beach. The Pro Loco, in collaboration with the municipality and various cultural associations, organizes a packed calendar of events that runs from mid-June through September 14—the day of the Feast of the Cross, the last festival before the autumn season begins.

Regular events on the calendar
June–July: The Library Goes to Lecceta
Three evenings (usually July 9, 16, and 23) organized by the Municipal Library within the Lecceta Nature Reserve: presentations of books from Abruzzo, children’s readings in the shade of the holm oaks, and discussions with local authors. Free admission, limited to 50 people, reservations recommended.
Early August: Torìo (masked parade)
On August 2, Torìo returns: a parade of mini-floats and masked characters. A relaxed summer version of the Turin Carnival, held in the square at sunset. Children participate in “sea”-themed or “local character” costumes. Symbolic prizes, ice cream for everyone.
August 10: Il Trabocco Sings by the Sea
Evening concert on the Le Morge waterfront, coinciding with the night of San Lorenzo. Singer-songwriters from the Abruzzo coast (Vasto, Lanciano, Pescara) take turns on stage with a repertoire in dialect and Italian. Recurring themes: the sea, the trabocchi, fishing stories, migration.
“You sit on the sand. Before you lies the black sea. Above, shooting stars. From the stage comes a voice singing a 1950s song in dialect about lost fishermen. There’s nothing more ‘Costa dei Trabocchi’ than this.”
August 9–10: Feast of St. Michael the Archangel (Borgata Marina)
The patronal feast of the Borgata Marina community, dedicated to the Archangel Michael, is celebrated on August 9 and 10 in the height of summer. The date—earlier than the traditional feast day of September 29—allows both residents and vacationers to participate. A procession of the saint through the streets of Marina, liturgical celebrations, evening musical entertainment, and moments of community gathering just steps from the sea.
August 21–22: Feast of San Felice
Traditional festival of the Contrada San Felice, organized by the “Pro San Felice Donato Iezzi” association. Religious celebrations, a food festival featuring local specialties, music, and dancing in the neighborhood square.
Late August: Arte in Festa
A traveling event—not held every year, but when it does, it transforms the central square into a creative workshop: 5 km of coloring sheets for children, 8 interactive areas with local artists, on-site sculpture, and temporary installations. Suitable for adults as well.
September 14: Feast of the Cross
Official end of summer. Religious procession in the morning, festival in the square in the afternoon, fireworks over the sea in the evening. It’s time to bid farewell to the warm season, before the town returns to its winter rhythm.
Complete Calendar
The final calendar is published at the end of June on the town’s website and on the Pro Loco’s Facebook and Instagram pages. All events are free except for individual festivals where food is sold for a fee.
