Fosso del Diavolo is a small, wild cove on the Costa dei Trabocchi, along the coast of Torino di Sangro Marina just north of Le Morge Beach, near the Punta Le Morge naturist beach (Lagodragoni area). It owes its name to the unusual rock formations emerging from the sea: one of these, due to its size and profile, resembles the silhouette of an abyssal monster—hence the suggestion of the “devil.”

The site is accessible via the Via Verde dei Trabocchi, the former Adriatic railway line now converted into a bike and pedestrian path that runs parallel to the coast. It is dominated by the Trabocco Fosso del Diavolo, owned by the municipality, which is periodically damaged by storm surges and serves as a symbol of the coast’s fragility.

The area is subject to ongoing coastal erosion: in 2024, a storm surge deposited logs and branches on the shore, from which a “tower” about twenty meters high was erected, becoming a spontaneous installation and a subject of photographs throughout the region.
